About nowiretransfer
nowiretransfer moves a file or note from one device to another with a 6-character code or QR scan. It works in a modern browser on Windows, iPhone, Android, Mac, and Linux. There's no app to install and no account to create.
Why it was built
I kept emailing screenshots and links from my Windows laptop to my iPhone. AirDrop wasn't an option, Bluetooth took too long, and a cloud drive was too much setup for a file I needed once.
So I built the tool I wanted: add a file or note, get a short code, and open it on the other screen. That's the whole idea.
What problem it solves
- Moving files between Apple, Android, and Windows devices.
- Sending files up to 250 MB when email is too limited.
- Using a shared or work computer where you cannot install an app.
- Temporary sharing: every share expires between one hour and seven days and is then deleted.

I built nowiretransfer after getting tired of emailing screenshots and links from my Windows laptop to my iPhone. Add a file or paste some text, then open it on the other device with a short code. No account needed.

Security & Privacy
Uploads and downloads use HTTPS/TLS. Stored files are protected with AES-256, the standard defined by NIST in FIPS 197. Stored files are encrypted at rest on the storage provider.
Shares aren't listed or searchable. The server checks the 6-character code and expiry before creating a download link. That link lasts five minutes, so keep the code private.
Set a share to last 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days. When it expires, its record and stored files are deleted, and the code stops working. Because there are no accounts, we do not create a profile or transfer history.
